Ardis Halter, age 93, of Marshall, Minnesota, died under the care of hospice on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Heritage Pointe Senior Living in Marshall. Funeral Service are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Marshall, Minnesota. Following interment in the Marshall Cemetery, a reception for attendees will be held back at the church. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. The evening will conclude with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to her celebration, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, at the church. Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.
Ardis June Malott was born on April 29, 1930, to James and Pauline (Hoffman) Malott in St. James, Minnesota. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her youth at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Ardis grew up in the St. James, graduating with the class of 1948. Shortly thereafter, on June 5, 1948, Ardis was united in marriage to Mr. Virgil Halter at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. To this union, three children were born: Judy, Karen, and Steven. Ardis and Virgil farmed for 9 years near Butterfield and lived briefly in Hoyt Lakes where she sold Avon to women and men due to the lack of a drug store, and she sold A LOT. They later settled in Marshall. In addition to being a loving homemaker and mother, Ardis worked as a Nurse’s Aide and in housekeeping at the Weiner Memorial Hospital and nursing home. Later in life, her favorite job was being a reliable and involved grandmother. In 1960, Ardis and Virgil were proud to be two of the founding members of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Marshall. She also spent many years volunteering at the Lyon County Fair. Her other enjoyments in life included trips to the casino for a try on the slot machine, playing the organ, league bowling, dancing, and playing games. Her favorites were Bingo, Bridge, 500, Skip-bo, Uno, and Phase 10. The couple had a cabin on Lake Shetek for 29 years where they enjoyed entertaining friends and family regularly. The loves of her life were God, her loving husband, her family, and her home.
Ardis June Halter died on Monday, July 24, 2023, in Marshall, Minnesota. She had reached the age of 93 years, 2 months, and 25 days. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her children, Judy (and Bob) Nuy of Marshall, Steven (and Karen) Halter of Andover; son-in-law, Jerry Rund of Marshall; 7 grandchildren, Tammy (and Dan) Stattelman, Kim (and Kerry) Ruppert, Chad Nuy, Craig (and Janeth) Rund, Erica Ripken, Amanda (and Nick) Ridley, Troy (and Cassie) Halter; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ardell Anderson of Marshall; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Ardis was preceded in death by her parents, James and Pauline Malott; husband, Virgil Halter; daughter, Karen Rund; sister, Norma Lenning; and a brother, Elden Malott.
