Ardis “Ardie” Appeldorn, age 72, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Monday, February 13, 2023, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Interment will follow in the Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour before the service, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of her celebration at 1:00 p.m., also at the funeral home.  Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.

Ardie Maxine Tonsfeldt was born on February 21, 1950, in Pipestone, Minnesota to Arthur and Maxine (Reynolds) Tonsfeldt. She was baptized as an infant, and later confirmed in her youth, in the Christian faith. Ardie spent her early years on the family farm outside of Pipestone and attended the area schools, graduating with the Pipestone High School class of 1968. Ardie went on to further her education at St. Cloud State University and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology.  On September 15, 1973, Ardie was united in marriage to Thomas “Tom” Appeldorn at the Presbyterian Church in Pipestone, and the couple raised a son, Troy. The family made their home in Marshall and Ardie worked for many years as a paraprofessional with the Marshall school district before her retirement in 2012.  Ardie spent most of her free time relaxing with Tom by their swimming pool. She also enjoyed watching sports – specifically the Minnesota Vikings and Las Vegas Raiders – and staying up on college athletics. Ardis and Tom shared 41 years together prior to his death in 2015.

Ardie Maxine Appeldorn died on Monday, February 13, 2023, in Marshall, Minnesota. She reached the age of 72 years, 11 months, and 23 days. Blessed be her memory.

Ardie is survived by her son, Troy (and Amy) Appeldorn of Chaska; 3 grandchildren, Sevea, Cohen, and Brynna Appeldorn all of Chaska; brother, Jay (and Connie) Tonsfeldt of Minneapolis; 2 sisters, Carolyn “Mary” Mauk of Maryland, Carmen Schmidt of Chaska; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Appeldorn; and parents, Arthur and Maxine Tonsfeldt.
