ST. PAUL (LEARFIELD) – Advocates in Minnesota and New York are turning up legal pressure on the Boy Scouts of America to release their so-called “Perversion Files” containing names of alleged perpetrators of sexual abuse.
Attorney Mike Finnegan with Jeff Anderson and Associates says they asked a Ramsey County judge to order the Boy Scouts to make public their files on over 15-hundred people removed as Scout Leaders between 1999 and 2008.
“They’re the most dangerous people,” said Finnegan. “Because they offended so recently, some of their older files go back to the 40’s, these are the people that are still alive and still could be out there hurting kids.”
Boy Scouts officials respond that case was settled in 2014 and they provided information from the list to law enforcement. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison joined the legal battle Monday, asking a judge to allow his office to file a “friend of the court” brief in the case.
