MONDAY — As of Tuesday, October 1st, Marshall homeowners can access financial assistance through the city’s new Ash Tree Removal and Replacement Reimbursement Program. The program aims to help single-family homeowners defray the costs of removing potentially Emerald Ash Borer-infested ash trees and planting new trees on their private property.

Eligible homeowners can receive up to $200 per tree removal, with a maximum of two ash trees per property. For tree replacements, up to $100 per new tree will be reimbursed, with a limit of four trees per property. Only trees from the city’s Approved Tree Species list qualify for reimbursement.

To participate, homeowners must submit itemized receipts for tree removals and replacements, with removals limited to the November 1 to May 1 timeframe. The work must be completed by a licensed contractor, and city staff will inspect the property before disbursing rebates. The program will operate on a first-come, first-served basis while funds are available.

Receipts should be submitted to the City of Marshall’s Community Services Department at 344 West Main Street.
