COVID cases on the rise in Minnesota

UNDATED (LEARFIELD) - State health officials have reported more than two-thousand coronavirus cases for five straight days in Minnesota. Nearly three-thousand positive COVID-19 tests were confirmed Monday, increasing the state's total to 153-thousand-620 cases since the pandemic began.  Nine more Minnesotans died of virus complications which brings the death toll to two-thousand-484. "The takeaway for today is that Minnesota is in a bad spot due to the rapid community spread of COVID-19," said Kris Ehresmann. "And it's going to get worse before it gets better." More than 36-thousand tests contributed to Monday's numbers.

Marshall School Board decides to search for permanent superintendent

MARSHALL (KMHL) – The Marshall School District will start a search for a permanent superintendent. The school board made the decision during their meeting Monday evening. Jeremy Williams has been serving as the interim superintendent since July 1st, and while board members complimented him on his leadership of the district, they felt the best thing to do would be to conduct a search for a superintendent. The board referred the issue to committee to put together search details.

Private family funeral services for Walter “Jim” or “Pike” Hartke, 89, of Wood Lake, will be on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake. Interment will follow the service at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.  The Sunset Funeral & Cremation Association in Echo is handling the arrangements. Gary Vernon Skrien, M.D., age 69, of Marshall, died on Saturday, October 31st, 2020 at his home.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7th, 2020 from 6-9 PM with a prayer service at 8:15 PM at Living Word Lutheran Church in Marshall. Visitation will continue Sunday, November 8th, from 1-2 PM followed by the funeral service at 2 PM at the church. Due to COVID-19 masks are required in church.
