Senate committee kicks off 3 day bonding tour of southwest Minnesota

MARSHALL (KMHL) – The Senate’s Capital Investment Committee is kicking off their bonding tour of southwest Minnesota today. Their tour will start in Shakopee and wind its way through Mankato and New Ulm today then Fairmont and Marshall tomorrow, before finishing up on Thursday in Redwood Falls, Morton and Willmar. 2 from Worthington injured in motorcycle accident

WORTHINGTON (KMHL) – A motorcycle accident north of Adrian sent two people to the hospital. The Minnesota State Patrol says Bruce Spidel, 65, Worthington, suffered life-threatening injuries when the 2008 Yamaha motorcycle he was riding went off the highway along State Highway 91 north of Adrian on Friday a little after 5 p.m. A passenger on the motorcycle, Lori Spidel, 60, of Worthington, received non-life threatening injuries. Both were taken to Sanford Luverne.

Commissioners to vote on Lyon County recycling contract Tuesday

MARSHALL (KMHL) – After not having a quorum last week – Lyon County Commissioners will address a proposed agreement to continue curbside recycling pickup in Lyon County at a special meeting tomorrow morning. Commissioners had placed the agreement with Southwest Sanitation on the agenda for their meeting last week – but with one commissioner away and two abstaining from the vote (family connections) – there wasn’t a quorum to vote on it. Authorities warn residents after 3 burglaries in Cottonwood in the last week

COTTONWOOD (KMHL) – The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is warning area residents about a rash of burglaries that have been reported in Cottonwood in the last week. Lyon County Sheriff Eric Wallen tells Marshall Radio there have been three burglaries; authorities say two of them have been reported on West 1st Street South in that community. Authorities are continuing to investigate. Wallen says there have also been burglaries reported in Tracy and Amiret – though they are unsure if those are related to the Cottonwood burglaries.
