MARSHALL — Yelloh, the frozen food home delivery service formerly known as Schwan’s, has announced it will cease operations. The company, founded by Marvin Schwan in 1952, was once a nationwide leader in delivering frozen meals to homes.

Despite a rebranding effort in March 2022, which saw the name change to Yelloh in an attempt to attract a broader customer base, the company faced continued sales declines. In recent months, several locations closed, including 90 delivery centers across the U.S. and sites in western Wisconsin.

The rise of home delivery apps like DoorDash and Shipt has been cited by industry analysts as a major factor in the changing market. Yelloh will officially close by late November, with 176 employees in Minnesota being laid off.

Company executives expressed gratitude for the support of their customers and employees, acknowledging the significant role the business played in the lives of millions over the decades.
