ST. PAUL (LEARFELD) – Governor Tim Walz took aim today (Tues) at what he calls Republican challenger Scott Jensen’s anti-choice extremism for supporting an outright ban on abortion, even for victims of rape or incest.
“At least the one thing on this is, there’s clarity,” said Gov. Walz. “And this is the most extreme position. We’re seeing this across the country.”
Jensen responds he’d allow abortion only in cases where the mother’s life is threatened — however…
“To me, rape and incest as considerations would fall within the realm of, is the mother’s life endangered,” said Jensen. “And I think the mother’s life can be endangered quite readily without us seeing it, particularly in regards to suicidal ideation.”
Jensen says that determination needs to be made by a woman and her doctor.
