Dan Peterson’s “Takini” Book Presentation

Dan Peterson of Walnut Grove, will discuss his book, Takini, at the Wheels across the Prairie Museum in Tracy on Monday, Aug. 19 at 6:30. This is a sad story about Julia Wright who was taken captive along with her two children by the Dakota at Lake Shetek on Aug. 20, 1862.  Attend the presentation and learn what happened to Julia and her children.

Cindy Wilson’s “We Suffered Much” Book Presentation

Cindy Wilson will give a presentation at the Wheels Across the Prairie Museum in Tracy on Aug 12, Monday, at 6:30 . The presentation will be about her new book, We Suffered Much.  She will talk about Charles Wood Irish and the Dakota Territory Railroad Survey of 1879 - 1881.  C. W. Irish charted a path for the railroad , beginning in Tracy and headed toward Deadwood. The author will talk about events close to Tracy.

Wheels Across the Prairie Heritage Center Annual Meeting

The annual meeting for the Wheels Across the Prairie Heritage Center will be at 1 p.m. May 5th. Keynote speaker Nancy Guertner will present at 1:30 pm. A member of the North Star Chapter(of Germans from Russia), Nancy was one of five editors of the chapter's two anthologies "Hollyhocks and Grasshoppers: Growing up German from Russia in America" & "Watermelons and Thistles: Growing up German from Russia in America" both published in 2018. Nancy contributed three essays to the first book, writing about her one-room school and a woman that homesteaded near her grandmother's farm.

Tracy Car Show

Wheels Across the Prairie Museum 3297 US-14, Tracy, MN, United States

The Tracy Area Car Show is Sunday, August 27th. This event is hosted by The Wheels Across the Prairie Museum. Registration starts at 9:30 AM to 11 AM. The museum will be open from 11AM to 4PM. Awards will be at 3 PM and there will be tons of door prizes, cash prizes, food vendors, a live DJ, and so much more. All proceeds will go to Tracy Area Schools.
