Holidays and other events may change this schedule. Events at the Balaton and Cottonwood Libraries end by noon. Children in kindergarten through 5th grade (ages 6-11) are invited to participate. Each month has a different theme. Take the theme challenge, and we’ll show off your creations at the library!
After School Art @ the Library-Marshall

Whether you’re into painting, drawing, crafting, or just hanging out with other creative kids, come explore new materials and ideas. Every third Thursday after school at the Marshall Library: January 16; February 20; March 20; April 17. Please note that the April 17th event will start at 12:30 PM rather than 3:30 PM due to Marshall Public Schools’ noon release.
Preservation Lab Demo Class
Marshall-Lyon County Library 201 C St., Marshall, MN, United StatesLearn how to use the Preservation Lab to digitize old photos, slides, cassette recordings, home movies, & more Thursday, March 21st at 11 am at the Marshall-Lyon County Library. Registration required. Space limited to 6 per class. Contract Emilirose at the library to register. Future classes include Wednesday, April 3rd at 6:30 pm, & Monday, Aprill 22nd at 1 pm. Annual Lyon County Historical Society Meeting
Marshall-Lyon County Library 201 C St., Marshall, MN, United StatesThe Lyon County Historical Society Annual Meeting is Thursday, June 2nd at the Marshall-Lyon County Library community room, 201 C Street, Marshall. Doors open at 5:00 PM. Pasta buffet starts at 5:30 PM. The historical society business meeting is at 6:00 PM. At 6:30 PM, guest speaker, Marshall Mayor Robert Byrnes, will speak on “Marshall History: Thirty Topics for the Past 30 Years”. Marshall was founded by the Winona, and St. Peter Railroad ( a subsidiary of the Chicago & North Western Railway) in 1872. The community is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. Community Forum Addressing the Mental Health Crisis
Marshall-Lyon County Library 201 C St., Marshall, MN, United StatesDuring the 2021 Minnesota legislative session, an important bill called Travis’ Law was passed. Travis’ Law requires 911 call centers to send mental health crisis response teams, rather than law enforcement, to mental health crisis calls. Come to a presentation and discussion on how communities are implementing Travis’ Law and what it means for you and your family.
