WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will distribute up to $10 billion to farmers through the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program (ECAP) for the 2024 crop year. Administered by the Farm Service Agency (FSA), the program provides financial support to help offset increased input costs and declining commodity prices.

“Producers are facing higher costs and market uncertainty, and the Trump Administration is ensuring they get the support they need without delay,” said Rollins. “USDA has prioritized streamlining the process and accelerating these payments ahead of schedule.”

Authorized by the American Relief Act of 2025, ECAP payments are based on reported crop acreage and prevented planting claims. Eligible farmers will receive pre-filled applications from the FSA after the signup period opens on March 19, 2025, but they can also apply directly online or through local FSA offices.

Farmers must submit applications by August 15, 2025, through FSA offices or online at fsa.usda.gov/ecap. Those who have not yet reported their 2024 acreage must do so before the same deadline.
