The Loch Ness Monster is in the news after the largest hunt EVER happened this weekend. So, did they find anything?
People from all over the world traveled to Scotland for it, and teams of volunteers spread out across the lake. The idea was to have as many eyes as possible watching every inch all at once.
And what they ended up finding was . . . nothing. Zero Nessie sightings, probably because the Loch Ness Monster doesn’t exist.
Evidence has always been anecdotal. And the guy who took the famous black-and-white photo from 1934 eventually admitted that it was a hoax. He attached a fake head to a submarine toy.
Experts say sightings have probably been driftwood, other animals like sturgeon, catfish, and otters . . . or possibly a whale’s junk sticking up out of the water.
Some people still believe in Nessie though, and it’s a huge tourist draw. So no one in Scotland is complaining, and the legend persists.
A 53-year-old woman from Florida was there for the hunt this weekend and said, quote, “It doesn’t matter that we didn’t see anything. That just keeps the mystery alive.”
