GRANITE FALLS (KMHL) – Trees and branches were knocked down across the region Saturday afternoon and power outages were reported from Canby to Granite Falls and Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon as wind gusts to around 70 miles per hour swept through the area.
One of the hardest hit areas was around Granite Falls, where strong winds blew off a portion of the Yellow Medicine East School building. Several homes and businesses in the community were dealing with downed branches and trees from the storms that rumbled through early Saturday afternoon.
Fortunately, there have not been any reports of injuries.
Weather officials say there were no reports of tornadoes, but a wind gust of 70 miles per hour was recorded at the Canby Airport, before the facility lost power Saturday.
