LUVERNE, Minn. — A Minnesota fire truck manufacturer is being acquired by an Iowa-based company. Stellar Industries of Garner, Iowa, has acquired Midwest Fire, a custom fire apparatus manufacturer headquartered in Luverne.

Midwest Fire has designed and manufactured fire trucks since 1987, including brush trucks, pumpers, tankers, quick-attacks and Type 3 trucks.

Stellar President Dave Zrostlik says the acquisition expands the company’s work truck portfolio into the fire and emergency response market while adding Midwest Fire’s nearly four decades of experience.

Midwest Fire will continue operating as a distinct company, with its headquarters and operations remaining in Luverne. Eligible Midwest Fire employees will also participate in Stellar’s employee stock ownership plan.

Midwest Fire President and CEO Sarah Atchison says Stellar’s manufacturing capabilities will support the company and its customers as part of the Stellar family of brands.
