BELVIEW – A Spirit Lake man is dead after three vehicles were involved in an accident on Wednesday in Redwood County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 12:58 Wednesday afternoon, a 2024 Chevy Cruze was traveling eastbound on Highway 19 and a 2004 Peterbuilt Semi was traveling westbound on Highway 19. Near the intersection with Harvest Avenue, the two vehicles collided. A 2002 Chevy Suburban was then struck by the Cruze after the initial collision with the semi.
The driver of the Chevy Cruze, 41-year-old John Michael Mcwhorter of Spirit Lake, Iowa, died from injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver of the Peterbuilt, 42-year-old James Randall Adkins of Brush, Colorado, was not injured.
The driver of the Suburban, 22-year-old Logan Jay Shreifels of Vesta, was not injured.
Assistance was provided by the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, Belview Fire and First Responders, Redwood Falls Fire Department, and CentraCare Ambulance.
