REDWOOD FALLS, MN – Communities across Southwest Minnesota are mourning the unexpected passing of longtime broadcaster Randy Wayne Clausen, who died of natural causes at his home on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the age of 60.

A beloved voice in the region, Clausen was known for his dedication to high school sports broadcasting, his warm personality, and his deep ties to the community. For over 25 years, he was a fixture at KLGR, hosting Coach’s Corner and providing play-by-play coverage of local sports. He was also the longtime announcer at Redwood Speedway.

Born in Minneapolis on February 9, 1965, Clausen grew up in Belview and graduated from Belview Public School in 1983. He attended the Brown Institute in Minneapolis to pursue his dream of broadcasting, which led him to stations in North Dakota and Montevideo before he returned to Redwood Falls to serve his home community.

Beyond radio, Clausen was an avid fisherman, an enthusiastic Minnesota Vikings fan, and a competitive game player who enjoyed checkers, bean bags, and any activity that let his spirited nature shine. A devoted member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, he served as an usher and elder.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 24, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls, with a livestream available on the church’s YouTube page. A public viewing will take place at the church from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, with visitation continuing one hour prior to services Monday. Interment will follow at Belview Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Clausen is survived by his sisters, Shelly Clausen, Kimberly Knacke, and Amy McCabe; his extended family; and many friends and listeners who will forever cherish his voice and presence in the community. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Kathy, his parents, Ronald and Marjorie, and his brother Barry.
