SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Deputy Katherine Frank, 26, has died after being shot during an officer-involved shooting Friday night in southwest Sioux Falls.
The Sheriff’s Office announced her death Monday, saying Frank was surrounded by family and loved ones. She also became an organ donor.
Frank worked at the South Dakota State Penitentiary beginning in September 2022 before joining the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office in June 2024.
A memorial has been established at the Law Enforcement Center at 320 West Fourth Street in Sioux Falls. Funeral arrangements and additional details will be released when available.
