MARSHALL — Southwest Minnesota State University is celebrating Homecoming 2025 this week with a full slate of events.

Tuesday, Oct. 7 | Western/Cowboy Day & Candidates Night
The week continues today with Western-themed attire and Candidates Night at 7 p.m. in the Upper Conference Center. The evening will feature fast-paced trivia, puzzles, and team competitions as Homecoming royalty candidates vie for prizes and bragging rights.

Wednesday, Oct. 8 | Superhero Day & Mustangs Give
On Wednesday, the annual Mustangs Give Day of Service runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with volunteers tackling community projects such as park cleanup and painting. The day wraps up with the Center for Learning Innovation Grand Opening from 4–6 p.m. in the new Learning Innovation Lab.

Thursday, Oct. 9 | Spirit Day, Mustang Kitchen & Coronation
Thursday’s schedule features Mustang Spirit Day and the long-awaited debut of the student-operated Mustang Kitchen, offering seating at 5:30 and 7 p.m. in the Culinology Dining Room by reservation. The night wraps up with Homecoming Coronation and Social at 6:30 p.m. in the Lower Conference Center, complete with live music from Common Man.

Friday, Oct. 10 | Flashback Friday & Alumni Celebration
Friday begins with the State of the University Address at 10 a.m. followed by The Southwest Celebration from 5:30 to 9 p.m., honoring alumni award recipients and campus achievements. That evening, fans can cheer on the Mustangs at the volleyball match against Concordia–St. Paul at 6 p.m. in the PE Gym.

Saturday, Oct. 11 | Parade, Game Day & Concert
Saturday brings the heart of Homecoming. Events kick off with the Marshall Farmers Market at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K/10K race at 8 a.m. The Homecoming Parade begins at noon on campus, followed by the Activity Festival, tailgating, and live music by Working Class Hero.
At 5 p.m., the Mustangs take on the University of Sioux Falls in the annual Homecoming football game at the Schwan Regional Event Center. The celebration continues afterward with a Johnny Holm Band concert on Mustang Trail and a “Women That Rock” laser light show in the SMSU Planetarium at 8 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 12 | Breakfast Sendoff
Homecoming wraps up Sunday with an all-you-care-to-eat Breakfast in the Dining Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering omelets, comfort food, and desserts to close out the week.
