Sherri McDonald, age 56, of Marshall, Minnesota, formerly of Council Bluffs, Iowa, died under the care of hospice on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Prairie Home Hospice — Lockwood House in Marshall. Private services will be held at a later date. Sherri Lynn McDonald was born February 19, 1966, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the oldest of three children born to Arthur Eugene and Anna Marie (Voigtlander) McDonald. Sherri was raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School with the class of 1984. From there, she attended college at Briar Cliff in Sioux City, Iowa for a few years before transferring to College of St. Mary’s in Omaha. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in art.  Sherri remained in the Council Bluffs area for the majority of her life and worked a number of jobs including, as a Dietary Aide for Jennie Edmundson Hospital, Hyatt Regency Hotel as a reservation agent, but the job she enjoyed most was as her work as a Supervisor and Transporter for the Child Protective Agencies.  Family was especially important to Sherri. She enjoyed spending time with her two nieces and two nephews and had a very special bond with her grandma Georgianna, who is lovingly referred to as “Grandma Georgie.” Most of her free time she spent with Grandma Georgie, whether it be transporting her for appointments and errands, or just spending quality time at her house.  They shared such a special bond that Sherri’s last request was to be cremated with Grandma Georgie’s quilt so she can hold dear what means most to her. Her other enjoyments in life included acting, reading, painting, learning calligraphy, and all different types of music – besides country. Sherri had a soft spot for animals and enjoyed spoiling her dogs, Minzy and Emmy, with time and affection.

Sherri Lynn McDonald died on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Prairie Home Hospice – Lockwood House in Marshall with her family by her side. She had reached the age of 56 years, 9 months, and 7 days. Blessed be her memory.

Sherri is survived by her siblings, Ron (and Ruta) McDonald of Council Bluffs, IA, Miranda (and Erik) Hansvick of Marshall; grandmother, Georgianna “Georgie” Huhnerkopf of Papillion, NE; nieces and nephews, Tom McDonald of Council Bluffs, IA, Zak McDonald of Council Bluffs, IA, Cheyenne McDonald of Council Bluffs, IA, Michelle (and Andy) Jahnke or Bricelyn; best friend, Theresa Garrison of Carter Lake, IA; 2 four-legged companions, Minzy the Wiener Dog, and Emmy the Border Collie; other relatives, and many friends.  Sherri was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Anna McDonald; maternal grandfather, Albert Huhnerkopf; paternal grandparents, Clinton and Wanda McDonald; and cat, Nikita.
