LYND — Seven people were injured, including five kids, after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 23 in Lyon County on Friday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At approximately 12:33 Friday afternoon, a 2008 Ford Escape and a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country were both northbound on Highway 23. Near the intersection with 220th street, the vehicles collided. 

The driver of the Ford, 19-year-old Shelby Korman of Lynd, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Marshall Regional Medical Center. 

The driver of the Chrysler, 42-year-old Christie Wieme of Balaton, and five juvenile passengers, ages 5, 7, 9, 12, and 14, all sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the Marshall Regional Medical Center. 

Assistance was provided by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lynd Fire Department, North Ambulance, and Balaton Ambulance.
