ST. PAUL (LEARFIELD) – State Senate G-O-P Majority Leader Paul Gazelka (guh-ZEL-cuh) says Governor Tim Walz “must immediately lift all mandates and restrictions” and “the pandemic fear must end.”

“Our kids are not at risk, and their parents are not generally over 70,” said Gazelka. “They have got to get back to normal.”

However, Walz isn’t willing to go further than his loosening of restrictions on Friday, when he allowed bars, restaurants and fitness centers to reopen, and some sports activity to return.

“If the senator wants to go and ask all of the hospital CEO’s, they would counsel against this move,” said Gov. Walz. “I had to take that into consideration, and I have to take the responsibility and the risk.”

Walz says the state will have to operate indefinitely with COVID in a sustainable mode.  Gazelka responds, open up the schools and let summer sports happen.
