FAIRFAX (KMHL) – The Memorial Day holiday weekend turned deadly on area highways.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 43-year-old Sacred Heart man was killed when the pickup he was driving was struck head on by another pickup along State Highway 4.
Authorities say David Leon Koskela was killed in the accident. According to the patrol, a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Steven Gerald Grussendorf, 61, of New Ulm, crossed the center line and struck a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Koskela.
The patrol says Grussendorf received non-life threatening injuries, while a passenger in Koskela’s truck also was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
