NEW ULM (LEARFIELD)  —  Authorities in south-central Minnesota are investigating the apparent electrocution death of a farmer near New Ulm.

Nicollet County sheriff’s deputies found 46-year-old Steven Franta unresponsive Sunday afternoon. Family and first responders tried to revive him but were unsuccessful.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement, “It appears that Franta had been accidentally shocked from a power cord at the farm site and succumbed to his injuries.”
