(Boston, MA) — A runner from Minnesota is celebrating a 5th place finish in the Boston Marathon and was the top American finisher among women. Emma Bates completed the 26.2-mile course in two hours, 22 minutes and ten seconds on Monday.
It was a personal best time for Bates (previous pb 2:23:18) to finish 5th, just missing Shalane Flanagan’s 2:22:02 American course record. Bates’ performance in her debut at the Boston Marathon secures her a qualifying time for the 2024 Olympics.
