Robert William Larsen was born August 14th, 1965 at Canby Hospital to Richard and Helen (Beiningen) Larsen. He attended school in Canby and graduated high school in 1983. He briefly attended Waseca Technical College but ended up with appendicitis, so he came back home after his surgery. He continued his education at Canby VO-TECH for Diesel Mechanics and graduated in 1986.  In 1988, he moved to Browns Valley to help Lyle Kruse run a tractor repair shop – Valley Ag & Auto – which sadly burnt down in 1991. He then moved to Montevideo where he worked for John Deere Kibble Equipment in parts. In 1999, he moved to the Larsen farm, and he worked at John Deere in Marshall for a few years. He wanted to work closer to home, so he started working at SMI as a maintenance technician. Most recently, Robert worked at Tech Ord and had been there since 2006.  Robert was an avid fisherman and his favorite fish to catch was a bass. He spent most of his time hobby farming and tended cattle for a few years. He also helped his dad with farming as much as he could. Over the years, he had a few horses and enjoyed riding out through the farm fields and trail riding. He enjoyed cooking and thankfully was very good at it, especially grilling. He had a large vegetable garden as well. Family was very important to Robert, and he was very active with his children, traveling, helping with 4H & FFA, and spending quality time with them on the farm.
