A memorial gathering to commemorate the life of Rita Senkyr, 69, of Marshall, will take place from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. A private family interment will take place at a later date.  The Horvath Funeral Service in Marshall is handling the arrangements.

Rita Dawn (Sauer) Senkyr was born on July 20, 1956, in Jerome, Idaho, to Roy and Viva (Jackson) Sauer. She grew up in Hagerman, ID, and graduated from Hagerman High School. Rita continued her education by receiving her Associate’s Degree in Accounting. A previous marriage brought her to Minnesota where she worked for TPI in Fairmont and CHS in Marshall. On December 31, 2008, she was united in marriage to Mark Senkyr. The couple enjoyed traveling, fishing and golfing together, especially trips to Devils Lake, ND, and they enjoyed entertaining friends and family in their home, particularly at Thanksgiving time. Rita loved tending to her flowers in her garden and following NASCAR and she was most fond of time spent with her grandchildren, especially at Christmastime.

Rita died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in Marshall. She is survived by her husband, Mark, of Marshall, daughter Ashley (Jaden) Baker of Willmar, son Travis Senkyr of Steam Boat Springs, CO; grandchildren Leedon, McKenna and Addi Baker; brother Ron and sisters Trudy and Roxy, and nieces, nephews, neighbors, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda and nephew Sean.
