ST. PAUL (LEARFIELD) – State Representative Ron Kresha (KREE-shaw), Republican from Little Falls, accuses Governor Tim Walz of disregarding school districts’ creative solutions when he issued a strong advisory against traditional graduation ceremonies this spring.

“One school district was considering their drive through movie theater in their town,” said Kresha. “Another school district would use the parking lot if the weather was bad, or they would spread everyone out on their football field and make sure there was proper distancing.”

The governor issued the order on Friday, much to the dismay of 2020 graduates and their families.

“This pains me, like all of these decisions do,” said Walz. “I get it, there are a lot of people folks that don’t believe we need to have social distancing, we don’t need to wear masks, but I need to listen to the health experts on this.”

Walz adds that he is trying to strike the proper balance between public health and important social milestones.
