The United Way of Southwest Minnesota announced a grant of $20,000 will be sent to Reading Corps, an AmeriCorps program of ServeMinnesota. These funds will be used to help cover the cost of three additional Reading Corps tutors in local schools to help prepare elementary students to meet the critical milestones of reading proficiency by the end of the third grade. Over the past 20 years, Reading Corps has helped over 300,000 students achieve reading proficiency.

UWSWMN’s service area includes the communities in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine, and portions of Minnesota’s Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles, and Redwood counties.
