MARSHALL — The Invenergy wind energy project, Purple Skies Wind Energy Center, is set to start its three-phase construction in 2026, generating up to 1,000 megawatts of electricity. The project will use towers across Lyon, Lincoln, Murray, Redwood, and Pipestone counties, with permitting expected to be completed in 2025, according to Molly Malone, Invenergy’s local and community affairs manager.
The announcement was made during a Business During Hours event hosted in collaboration with the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce. Development began in 2022, covering permitting and environmental studies. Invenergy, based in Chicago, has developed over 200 energy projects, including wind, solar, and advanced energy storage.
Residents attended the open house to chat with company officials and learn more about the project.
