“Purple Rain” Is Becoming a Broadway Musical
Broadway is about as creative and innovative as Hollywood these days. Which is to say, not very much
Case in point: Their latest big idea is a stage musical based on Prince’s “Purple Rain”.
The producers say, quote, “We can’t wait for a new generation to discover ‘Purple Rain’ and for lovers of the original film and album to experience its power once again, this time live.”
The original movie came out in 1984, and won the Oscar for Best Original Score.
