MARSHALL, Minn. — The Lyon County Fair shifts into high gear this week with the return of the PRCA Rodeo, live entertainment and the annual Demolition Derby.
The PRCA Rodeo takes place Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. in the NextEra Energy Grandstand. Hosted by Barnes PRCA Rodeo, the event is expected to feature more than 200 contestants competing in bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and bull riding. The Boot Scramble for children will also be held both nights.
Friday’s rodeo will also include the Tough Enough To Wear Pink fundraiser, featuring a live auction to benefit a local cancer support partner. The event has raised nearly $30,000 over the years.
The fair starts Wednesday with the opening of the carnival, a steak fry, performances by The Amazing Bubble Factory and The Strong Man, and live music from The Whitesidewalls.
Additional entertainment includes Self Titled on Thursday, Rough House Rox on Friday and Time Machine on Saturday, all performing on the free stage.
Saturday is Senior Citizens Day and features a freewill donation pancake breakfast, a veterans program, carnival rides and the Demolition Derby beginning at 7 p.m.
The fair wraps up Sunday with carnival rides, ATV/UTV barrel racing and additional performances by The Amazing Bubble Factory.
