GRANITE FALLS (KMHL) – A plane crashed near the Granite Falls airport Friday morning.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office said it received a 911 call reporting the crash just east of the airport in a field shortly after 7:00 a.m.

Authorities say the pilot of the plate was Steven Lindquist, 67, of Granite Falls. Sheriff’s officials say he was flying a small 1971 American Aviation AA-1A plane.

Sheriff’s officials say Lindquist was treated at the scene with cuts to his head – and was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

The pilot’s condition isn’t known at this time and the incident is under investigation with the FAA.
