REDWOOD FALLS (LEARFIELD) — A five-point-nine-million-dollar federal grant is the first step toward a new State Veterans Cemetery in southwest Minnesota.
Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minnesota) helped secure the award and says the proposed cemetery in Redwood County would serve more than 22-thousand veterans, their spouses, and family.
Peterson said, “it’s taken over 10 years of relentless advocacy by many people and groups to get to this point.” The grant begins a year-long process in design, planning, and supporters hope, a final award.
The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is working with county officials on the property.
