Pearl Hamer, age 90, of Hendricks, MN passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Hendricks Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks, MN. Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Hendricks City Cemetery. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel of Hendricks, MN is entrusted with the arrangements.
Pearl Kathryn Hamer was born on August 24, 1933 in Ivanhoe, MN to Clarence and Dora (Nygaard) Kvernmo. She was baptized, confirmed, and nurtured in the Christian faith at First Lutheran Church. She graduated from Hendricks High School in 1951 and after graduation was employed by Hendricks Hospital as a nurse’s aide. On June 26, 1954 she was married to Rudy Hamer and to that union two children were born: Gregory and Denise. She graduated from Lake Area Vo-Tech in Watertown, SD as an L.P.N. in 1971 and continued working as a nurse at Hendricks Hospital until her retirement. She loved playing the piano, and in earlier years was the pianist for many occasions and an organist in church. She also enjoyed canning, baking, crafts, and sewing Easter dresses for her two granddaughters Chelsea and Justine, when they were children. She loved her family and granddaughters and loved every family gathering including Christmas and Easter that they got to spend together. After her retirement she volunteered at the thrift shop in town and kept busy caring for her dog Mia and later on her cat Sophie.
Pearl is survived by her son Greg Hamer; two granddaughters: Chelsea and Justine; great granddaughter Kendall; sister-in-law Gail, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents Clarence and Dora; brother Glen; loving husband Rudy; son-in-law Ken, and daughter Denise.
