Readers Café Live – Mary Seifert Author Visit
Marshall Lyon County Library MN, United StatesMarshall Lyon-County Library's Reader's café live welcomes contemporary mystery writer Mary Seifert of Willmar, Minnesota to the Marshall Lyon-County Library on Thursday, October 5th at 6:30 p.m. for an author visit. Seifert is the Author of the Katie & Maverick cozy mysteries series. She is a member of the Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, the American Cryptogram Association, Dog Writers of America, and PEO.
Starwatch Party W/Mike Lynch
Patriot park Marshall, MN, United StatesThe city of Marshall and the Marshall-Lyon county library want you to experience the night sky of southwest Minnesota! Join professional meteorologist Mike Lynch, Monday, October 9th starting at 7:00 p.m. at Patriot Park. Mike will have giant telescopes aimed at planets, the moon, and distant galaxies. The event is free and open to the public, so bundle yourself up and enjoy the stars! Patriot park is located on Windstar Street between Scott St and Ellis Ave, South of MN 23 and west of US 59. There is a rain date for Wednesday, October 11th if inclement weather occurs.
Live Radio Skit Featuring: The Stache

Whether you’re into painting, drawing, crafting, or just hanging out with other creative kids, come explore new materials and ideas. Every third Thursday after school at the Marshall Library: January 16; February 20; March 20; April 17. Please note that the April 17th event will start at 12:30 PM rather than 3:30 PM due to Marshall Public Schools’ noon release.
LEGO® Brick Club-Marshall, Balaton, Cottonwood

Holidays and other events may change this schedule. Events at the Balaton and Cottonwood Libraries end by noon. Children in kindergarten through 5th grade (ages 6-11) are invited to participate. Each month has a different theme. Take the theme challenge, and we’ll show off your creations at the library!

Movie Club Presents “Ever After” Film and Discussion-Marshall

After the movie, there will be a brief discussion to share your thoughts. May’s movie is Ever After (1998, PG-13, 2 hrs 1 min). This retelling of Cinderella stars Drew Barrymore as Danielle, a young woman in 16th century France.
Kilts: History & Construction-Marshall
Marshall Lyon County Library MN, United StatesMay 6 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm Sheila Tabaka, fashion historian, SMSU Theatre’s costume designer, and owner of Caledonia Kilts, will discuss the culture, history, & construction of Scottish kilts. Professor Tabaka studied the making of kilts while in Scotland as part of her sabbatical studies. A similar lecture was held in fall 2024.
