Neva Hacker, age 95, of Canby, MN passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Sylvan Court Nursing Home in Canby, MN. Funeral service will be held at 10:30a.m. on Saturday, March 11th at the First Presbyterian Church in Canby. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7p.m. on Friday, March 10th at the First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Canby City Cemetery. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel of Canby, MN is entrusted with the arrangements.

Neva Doris (Borchard) Hacker, age 95, of Canby, Minnesota, died on Saturday, February 25, 2023. She was a resident of Sylvan Court which she considered her final home and where she received excellent care from the wonderful caring and supportive staff. A lifelong resident of Canby, she was born May 1, 1927, and attended Canby High School through the 10th grade. In addition to being a loving and devoted wife and mother, Neva worked for 30 years for the Canby High School in the Athletic Laundry Department. At the time of death, Neva was a life-time member of First Presbyterian Church which served as her foundation of faith.  Neva was married to Marvin “Bud” Hacker on October 3, 1948 and spent 42 years with the love of her life until his death on February 12, 1990. The following 33 years were spent with her extended family and many friends. Her home was well-known as a place of welcome and served as a gathering spot for many. In later years it was the support of family and friends who visited frequently that helped her maintain independence and enjoy the benefits of living in her own home.

Neva is survived by her 5 daughters: Susan Clausen and husband, Larry, Lakeville, MN; Bonnie Kloos and husband, Larry, Pierre, SD; Penny Anderson, Canby; Donna Beck and husband Robert, Bagley, MN; Wendy Hacker, Canton, SD; brother, Roger Borchard, West Valley City, UT. In addition, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren were part of Neva’s commitment to love of family.  Neva is preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Atha (Stauffer) Borchard; husband, Marvin Hacker; brothers, Glen and Wayne Borchard; daughter, Betty Hacker; grandson, Tony Anderson and great-granddaughter, Katie Kloos.
