SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA (KMHL) – Three tornadoes touched down in Sioux Falls late Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service says all three were rated EF-2.

The first was a brief touchdown near Sioux Falls O’Gorman High School. The storm had estimated peak winds of 125 miles per hour and was on the ground for seven tenths of a mile.

That storm was responsible for damaging the strip mall, Best Buy and the Auto Value store near 41st Street.

The second tornado was also a brief touchdown near the Avera Heart Hospital. It was also an EF-2 and had estimated peak winds of 130 miles per hour. There were eight injuries reported with that storm – none of them were serious.

The third touchdown was also an EF2 storm with peak winds of 125 miles per hour. That storm touched down in a residential area. It ripped a few roofs off of neighborhood homes.
