MARSHALL, MN – The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) announced a second detour for the Highway 59 concrete repair project, starting July 25. This new detour will affect Highway 59 south of Garvin, from 201st Street to Lyon County Road 14. Traffic will be redirected onto Highway 14 and County Roads 48, 29, and 5.
The first detour, which began on July 8, reroutes traffic from Highway 59 south of Marshall, spanning from Highway 23 to County Road 6. Both detours are expected to last up to five working days each, and the entire project is projected to be completed by October 18, weather permitting.
Traffic Impacts:
- Two detours are in place for the project:
- South of Marshall: Traffic is diverted via Highway 23 and County Roads 35 and 6.
- South of Garvin: Starting July 25, traffic will follow Highway 14 and County Roads 5, 29, and 48 for approximately seven weeks.
Short-term intersection closures will occur for ADA improvements, with minor detours as needed. Despite the construction, businesses along the route remain accessible.
