Today is National Voter Registration Day, with Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon taking part in efforts to encourage voter registration and civic participation. Simon is scheduled to visit high schools and colleges in Lake and St. Louis counties as part of the statewide outreach. National Voter Registration Day was established in 2012 and has helped more than 6.5 million Americans register to vote. Simon serves as a co-chair of the event’s national steering committee. Minnesota’s general election is November 3, with absentee voting beginning Friday.
