WASECA (LEARFIELD) —  The Minnesota State High School League says jerseys honoring a wounded Waseca police officer can’t be worn during official games.

The league informed coaches in Waseca that the jerseys don’t comply with rules for special recognition or commemorative or memorial patches.

The jerseys have the words “Waseca Police” along with Officer Arik Matson’s badge number on the front and Matson’s last name on the back.

The jerseys can be worn for practice and warmups.

The Waseca girls’ hockey team is in Marshall tonight to play the Tigers at Red Baron Arena. All money raised at the gate tonight will be donated to Officer Matson and his family.
