Mike Mumm, age 59 of Tracy, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, surrounded by his family at Sanford Tracy Medical Center. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2024 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14 with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Tracy Area Funeral Home. Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Michael “Mike” Duane Mumm was born July 22, 1964 to Leon Jr. and Susan (Lamfers) Mumm in Tracy, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Tracy. He attended Tracy High School and as a teenager worked for Clyde Schadt and Fedde’s Repair in Amiret, then later at Red Owl for many years. Mike found his talent while spending 35 years at John Deere as a small engine mechanic and many knew him as, “Mike the Mower Man Mumm”. He truly enjoyed conversations with his customers and in 2022, he ventured out into the business world and Tracy Small Engine Services was established. Mike had a true passion for trouble shooting and repairing equipment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hosting and attending car shows, camping with family and friends, hanging around the fire, and enjoying a drink. His weekends were spent playing cards and games, teaching the grandkids his expertise skill of checkers. He was a true family man and great friend who loved hosting any event and throwing in bean bag tournaments. He volunteered 8 years for the Tracy Fire Department and over 35 years volunteering during the annual town celebration, Tracy Box Car Days. If you were lucky, you could catch him on the dance floor or sharing his version of Louis Armstrong, What a Wonderful World during a night out on the town. Mike married the love of his life June Renee Fredericks in Tracy on August 7, 1982. They shared 41 wonderful years, creating many memories, building a family, and sharing the dance floor together. The couple expressed their continued love for one another over their 40th wedding anniversary up north renewing their vows in an intimate setting surrounded by family.
Mike is survived by his wife June; his children: Mandy (Andy) Hoffman of Tracy, Josh (Dasha) Mumm of Revere & Cody (Becca) Bruns of Tracy; his joy, his grandchildren: Aidan, Aleigha, Cheyenne, Easton, Lane, Maci & Evie; mother Susan of Tracy, siblings: Jeff (Jean) Mumm of Wyoming, Kathy Fedde of Amiret, Lori (Rick) Wakefield of Walnut Grove & Jess (Justin) Swenhaugen of Tracy; brothers-in-law: Butch (Shirley) Fredericks & Dean (Becky) Fredericks, both of Mankato, & Bill Fredericks of Texas; sisters-in-law: Rhonda Fredericks of Tracy & Theresa (Darwin) Bartlow of Balaton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Mike is preceded in death by his father Leon Mumm Jr., in-laws Lyle Sr. & Delores Fredericks, paternal grandparents Leon Mumm Sr. & Mary Willey, maternal grandparents Paul & Sally Lamfers, brother-in-law Larry Fedde, and special uncle Leroy Mumm.
