A memorial service for Miguel Ramirez-Monterroso, 42, of Marshall, will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will be Thursday, April 24, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the remembrance center. Interment at the Marshall Cemetery will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Horvath Funeral Service in Marshall is handling the arrangements.
Miguel Antonio Ramirez-Monterroso was born on May 30, 1982 to Tomasa Monterroso and Demetrio Rameriz in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He was baptized grew up in Guatemala. During his childhood there Miguel was a pianist and singer at his church. He was also a boy scout and helped spread the message of his church. At the age of 12 Miguel’s father passed away. At this time he and his family immigrated to Los Angeles. Miguel spent one year there until eventually settling in Southwest Minnesota. He stayed there until at the age of 26 when Miguel went back to Guatemala to be with the love of his life Nancy Heredia. The couple was married in 2011 and then moved back to Marshall, MN to raise their family. Together Miguel and Nancy have 6 children. Miguel was an avid sports fan and enjoyed to play FIFA video games. Miguel’s wife and family were the most important things in his life. Miguel passed away as result of a tree cutting accident on Friday, April 18, 2025 in Ghent, MN.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Heredia; children Lineth, Anthony, Marjorie, Caleb, Issac and Arleth; mother Tomasa Monterroso; siblings Maria (Hugo), Paulina (Dimas), Jose, Clara, Rosa (Mayki), Lety (Maynor), Carmen (Victor), Marta (Darren) Evelyn, Wendy and Mariela; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Miguel is preceded in death by his father Demetrio Ramirez; nephew Jonathan Misael Cajas Ramirez; maternal and paternal grandparents.
