MARSHALL (KMHL) – No one was hurt, but a home received extensive damage during a house fire Saturday night in Marshall.

Marshall Assistant Fire Chief Ray Henrickson tells Marshall Radio, the fire occurred in the 700 block of south First Street. Henrickson says the resident of the home was at home at the time of the fire, noticed smoke, but was able to escape the home.

Fire officials say the fire was reported shortly after 10 PM Saturday evening. Officials say the fire began in the garage, but the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation with the state fire marshal’s office.

Henrickson says the home received extensive damage, but the fire was largely contained to the garage and the kitchen and living room area.

Fire departments from Ghent, Cottonwood and Lynd assisted in fighting the fire.
