Marlys Huber, age 91, of Hendricks, MN passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Brookside Senior Living Center in Montevideo, MN. Funeral service will be at 2:00p.m. on Friday, November 11th at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the East Hendricks Cemetery near Hendricks, MN. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel of Hendricks is entrusted with the arrangements.

Marlys LaVonne Huber was born in Hendricks, Minnesota on July 9, 1931 to parents Carl and Betsy (Hermoe) Oien. She was raised in Hendricks and graduated from Hendricks High School and then attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, SD. After her schooling she became a bookkeeper for various automotive dealerships for countless years.  On September 3, 1955 Marlys was united in marriage to John Henry Huber at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Henricks, MN and together they were blessed with their daughter, Kim. Marlys helped her husband John farm and milk cows until the early 1970’s when they moved to Brookings, SD. In 1996, Marlys and John returned to Hendricks to enjoy their retirement years. After 62 years of marriage John passed away on January 10, 2018.  Marlys enjoyed camping, fishing and making jewelry. She loved animals and especially her pet dogs and cats throughout the years. Her pride and joy was her well kept house and yard. Marlys was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan and enjoyed listening and watching games for countless years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

Grateful for having shared Marlys’ life is her daughter, Kim (Kent) Kanten of Milan, MN; her grandchildren: James (Laura) Kanten of Milan, MN, Kristin Kanten of Willmar, MN and Timothy (Sierra) Kanten of Milan, MN; her great-grandchildren: Henry and Charles Kanten, Freya and Bjorn Vadnais and Jack, Ledger and Tripp Kanten; her two sisters, June Reed and Bernice Nelson and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Betsy Oien; sister, Evelyn Hanson and brother, Clifford Oien; sister-in-law, Gilma Oien and brothers-in-law, Gaylord Hanson, Howard Reed and Elmer Nelson.
