A graveside service for Marilyn “Myrt” Holm, 87, of Tracy, formerly of Balaton, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at the Bethel Cemetery in Garvin.   Attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring a lawn chair. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Marilyn Rose “Myrt” Holm was born on November 21, 1933, in Garvin to Luther and Emma (Schafer) Griffith. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1951. On October 4, 1952, Myrt was united in marriage to Marsden “Pete” Holm. The couple lived in Baltimore, MD, for a time while Pete served in the U.S. Army. They later returned to live, work and raise their four children on the family farm southwest of Balaton. Myrt worked side by side with Pete on the farm until his death in 1987. She also drove school bus from 1975 – 1977. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Balaton United Methodist Church and “Ruth” Circle. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, playing golf, gambling at local casinos, playing cards and being with her many friends.

Myrt died on Thursday, November 26, 2020, at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy. She is survived by her son Ken (and Cyndi) of Balaton, daughters Julie (and Rob) Sasker of Chancellor, SD, Becky of New Prague, Pam (and Kurt) Miller of Burnsville, grandchildren Jay and Jesse Hively; Kasey, Mitch and Morgan (Holm) Soupir; and Marsden “Mardy” Powell; seven great-grandsons, and sister-in-law LaDonna Rathje of Marshall. She was preceded in death by her husband Pete, parents and sisters Lorraine Averill, Ardell Gordon and Violet DeVries.
