Marianne Kerr was born on October 18, 1937 in Tracy, Minnesota to William and Agnes Sanders Lord. She grew up on the family farm near Garvin, MN and graduated from Tracy High School in 1955. She and Warren Kerr were married on June 26, 1957 at St. Mary’s Church in Tracy, MN. Following their marriage they made their home in Marshall, MN for one year before moving to Currie, MN. In 1963 they moved to Slayton, MN where Marianne worked at the Ridotto Inn Motel in Slayton. Marianne did volunteer driving for Murray County Transportation office in Slayton. Warren passed away on July 24, 2008. Following Warren’s death Marianne moved to Mapleview Apartments in Fulda, MN. In 2012 she became a resident of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. Marianne passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 81. She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in Slayton where she served as lecturer, reader, on the church council, as financial secretary and painted baptismal and paschal candle’s. She also was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the C.C.W. Marianne served on the Murray County Christmas project Board, and Murray County Food Shelf Board. Marianne enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, crafts, knitting, embroidery, genealogy, gardening, and jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include her four children. Gregory Kerr of River Falls, Wi, Patricia Kerr-Reitsma of Minneapolis, MN, Angela Henning and her husband, Dale of Mason City, IA, and Teresa Daugherty and her husband, Tom of Dacula, GA, eight grandchildren, Jacob Kerr, Adam Reitsma, Matthew Reitsma, Paul Henning, Andrew Henning, Jeffrey Henning and his wife, Mindy, Samantha Daugherty and Alaina Daugherty, four siblings and their spouses, Patricia Lord of Crystal, MN, Darlene and Allan Rolling of Garvin, MN, Max and Mary Lord of Marshall, MN, and Desneige and Jim Gervais of Currie, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Warren.
St. Ann’s Church in Slayton, MN on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Thien Nguyen officiating. The organist is Judy Andrews. The song leader is Sheila Crowley. The gift bearers are her granddaughters. The pallbearers are her grandsons. Interment is at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Slayton, MN. Memorials may be directed the American Heart Association or the Parkinson’s Foundation. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
