MARSHALL, Minn. — The Marshall Area Fine Arts Council will host an exhibit reception tonight featuring the wood carvings of artist John Sterner.
The come-and-go reception will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Marshall Area Fine Arts Council’s gallery on the second floor of City Hall at 344 West Main Street.
MAFAC Board President Carol Purrington says Sterner’s exhibit has been on display for about a week.
“His wood carvings are absolutely fabulous. And if you want to come to the reception tonight, it’s a come-and-go type of event. Starts at 5:30, lasts till 7. It’s a good opportunity to come up, talk to John, ask him questions about his work, and then to view his wonderful wood carvings.”
Purrington says the gallery can be visited during City Hall hours, although volunteers are generally available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
“The gallery itself is open all day long. As long as City Hall is open, you can come and observe the exhibits.”
MAFAC is also preparing for a Beatles tribute concert on October 10 at the Marshall High School Theater and a juried holiday art market November 28 during Marshall’s Downtown Holiday Kickoff.
