LYON COUNTY, Minn. — Lyon County Sheriff Eric Wallen has announced the 2026 Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association Law Enforcement Scholarship Program. 

The program will award up to 18 scholarships worth $2,000 each to students pursuing law enforcement careers. The scholarships are intended to help students with the costs of peace officer skills training or two- and four-year law enforcement programs.  

Eligible students must be enrolled in the mandated POST Skills Program, in their second year of a two-year law enforcement program, or in their third or fourth year of a four-year criminal justice program. Applicants must have completed at least one year of a two-year program or two years of a four-year program.  

Applications are due November 30, 2026, with scholarship recipients expected to be announced at the beginning of 2027. Applications are available through local sheriff’s offices or the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association website.
