Lynn Kay (Larson) Nelson, age 80 of Springfield, formerly of Revere, passed away peacefully Friday, August 22, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield with her daughter at her side. Public Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Old Westbrook Lutheran Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Farmers Golf & Health Club in Sanborn. Stephens Funeral Service – Walnut Grove Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lynn Kay Nelson was born August 21, 1945 to Earl and Toinie (Salo) Larson in Cloquet, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Cloquet High School in 1963. On a blind date, she met Dale N. Nelson and they were married October 26, 1963. Together they were blessed with children Kelly and Tim. Lynn worked alongside Dale Farming for 48 years and once the kids were grown she also worked as a dispatcher for the Cottonwood County Sherriff’s Department for 6 years. They retired from farming in 2010. Lynn had a zest for life and loved to have fun. She often planned outings with friends–shopping trips, dinners out, and the occasional raspberry martini. Lynn’s “happy place” was in Casa Grande, AZ where she was fortunate to spend 24 winters. She made many lifelong friends she considered her second family. She also found joy in simple moments—sitting on her deck in the sunshine, listening to birds and visiting with friends. Most of all, Lynn cherished her family; they meant the world to her. She especially enjoyed birthday shopping trips with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories they will always hold close.
She is survived by daughter Kelly (Jack Larson) Hoffman; daughter-in-law Julie (Brian Wegener) Nelson; grandchildren: Kristina (Jeremy) Thurman, Ryan (Ayla Snyder) Hoffman, Kayla (Travis Burr) Nelson, Lacey (Cody) Groebner, Elijah (Melissa) Nelson, Jessica (Michael) Lawler, Katelyn Nelson and William Nelson; great grandchildren: Lily, Paisley, Jacob, Olivia, Chloe, Isabella, Amelia, Lily, Eliza, Violet, Leo and Lucy (with 2 more on the way); and siblings-in-law: Jackie Larson, Barb Larson, Judie Harnack, Mary Nelson and Bob Nelson. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, sons Tim Nelson & baby boy Nelson, son-in-law Jeff Hoffman; siblings: Mavis Stransky and Dale Larson.
