A celebration of life for Lu Ann (Tillemans) (Anderson) Hinz, 72, of Marshall, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Horvath Remembrance Center of Minneota. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Lu Ann’s wishes were to be buried with both of her deceased husbands. Interment will follow at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Minneota, with a second private interment taking place at a later date at the Amiret Cemetery.  Lu Ann died on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at her residence at Boulder Estates in Marshall.

Lu Ann grew up on a farm near Minneota, MN, the oldest of six children of Johnny and Dorothy (Wyffels) Tillemans. She graduated from Minneota Public School in 1971, and later attended Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, MN. Lu Ann had many jobs throughout her life: Marshall Millwork, A & M Bar in Taunton, co-owner of LDJ’s Silver Dollar Bar in Ghent, the Tracy Municipal Liquor Store, and the Tracy Casey’s Store.  Lu Ann’s enjoyments in life included: 10 pin bowling, golfing, serving as a delegate on the Minnesota State Liquor Boards, announcing at Ghent and Marshall rolle bolle tournaments, participating in the Johnny Tillemans Chili Cook Off for hospice, and expressing her creativity through decorating. She also enjoyed riding her motorcycle, including many trips to Sturgis, SD. She loved socializing with people, and she told many stories that had beginnings during her bartending career. Lu Ann was a strong-willed person who could be stubborn at times.

Lu Ann is survived by her son Tom (Mindy) Martell, grandsons Clay and Louie Martell, sisters Carey (Pete) Doyscher, Deb (Dan Hearshman) Gilbertson, and Sandy (Bill) Doyscher, and uncle and aunt Dr. Paul and Patty Julsrud.  She is preceded in death by her husbands Jim Anderson and Jerry Hinz, loving parents and co-owners Johnny and Dorothy Tillemans, grandparents Harold and Marie Tillemans and August and Anne Wyffels, brother Joe Tillemans, sister Christine Tillemans, great-nephew Lincoln Lessman, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
